We're winding down with Living Stones' Children of Importance ~ After School Tutoring and Mentoring Program. We decided, as tutors, staff and interns, a little fun learning was needed. For the past three weeks it rain in Tallahassee, so we kept postponing the event. But on April 23, 2015, the sun was shining, the grass newly cut and we moved forward. This is a candid shot, but you can tell from the laughter how much fun the kids had. If you're wondering. . . to make this rocket, you need a 2 liter bottle, a cork (wine), 1cup vinegar, 2 cups water, and 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda. You can buy the corks from Michael's. Mix water, vinegar and color dye together. Place in bottle. After rolling baking soda in paper towel like a burrito you may place it in the bottle. The experiment we copied showed the cork attached to a board and place on top. Our way was more fun. Place the burrito baking soda in bottle turn it quickly upside down with cork screwed on board and move out of the way fast. After 8 tries, each bottle seem to go higher and higher. Enjoy!
